Słowa kluczowe: doping, wspomaganie, studenci, program nauczania
Key words: doping, supplementation, students, school syllabus
Summary
Background. The aim of the work was to examine the level of the knowledge about doping in sport among the students of the first and fourth year of the University School of Physical Education in Poznań. As a result, presented conclusions can be useful in modifying the content and structure of the university's syllabus.
Material and methods. The authors used the method of diagnostic opinion poll, accompanied by a questionnaire technique. Empirical data was gathered in computer data base. Also the whole set of calculating procedures, based on descriptive statistics methods was prepared (non-semi-metrical test Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney test). The material which was compared included 439 questionnaires from students of the first (n=226) and fourth year (n=213).
Results. From 439 people who answered the questionnaire about doping about 72% correctly described the meaning of the word 'doping". In case of more precise question, about the differences between doping and supplementation, only 56% of respondents was able to give the correct answer. The distribution of the correct answers on each departments shows the WF students in the best light. Contrary to the first year students, analyzing the question from the variable-sex on the fourth year of study, the authors did not notice major disproportions within the level of knowledge between women and men. For most of the responding students of the first year the source of knowledge are mass media and friends. The fourth year students acquire their knowledge also from school (34%).
Conclusions. The biggest and the most systematized knowledge about doping in sport presented students of WF. The research results and students' opinion lead to the conclusion that there is a need of including more "doping" classes to university's syllabus.
