Dear Sirs/Madams,

We will shortly be entering the 10th year of "Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja". On account of this jubilee of our bi-monthly, let us take a retrospective look at what we have managed to achieve. Since the publication of our first volume, we have become visibly more mature, improved our graphic layout and grown in size, while never defaulting on our original idea of organising issues around leading topics and maintaining the arrangement of content just as it was 9 years ago. We have collaborated with the most prominent scholars. We have maintained our presence at every major congress, symposium or conference, and have co-organised several of them.
During these 9 years, we have worked to make editorial improvements while also taking care to ensure a high academic standard of OTR. A close look at rankings will show that the 6 point impact factor awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (former Committee for Scientific Research) and 6.71 points from Index Copernicus (IC) have put OTR in the 26th place among medical journals and 9th place among clinical medicine periodicals.
OTR is indexed with the international bibliographic data bases MEDLINE, EMBASE and IC, boasting a high rank among the 900+ academic journals registered there. We are currently requesting inclusion in the most important global bibliographic data base, Impact Factor.
OTR has been published as a fully bilingual Polish-English journal starting with Issue No. 1/2007. The full English edition is also available on-line. Our website registers an average of 42,879 visits a month (last 6 months' average), an impressive figure for highly specialised content. OTR now reaches the countries of Eastern Europe. Our Editorial Board includes specialists from this part of Europe, which helps us to promote OTR in those countries among orthopaedists, traumatologists, surgeons and other specialists in related fields.
We can thus be legitimately proud of our past and our present. At the same time, we feel an immense responsibility for our future. It should also be emphasised that OTR is regarded as the most modern academic opinion-making forum in Poland. Our next goal is to achieve a high status in Europe and thus enable Polish specialists to present their achievements to foreign audiences.
To a large extent, our success is owed to you, our advertisers! We can note with satisfaction that thanks to collaboration with renowned companies and the possibility of presenting many excellent products, "Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja" has been appreciated more and regarded as more reliable, especially in the opinion of our readers, who expect academic journals to provide some concrete conclusions and practical advice. We have thus become an important part of the Polish orthopaedics and rehabilitation communities. Advertisements for products are an important and integral part of our journals, allowing our readers to be provided with a vaster array of indispensable information for their professional practice. A survey we have carried out showed that advertisements are read with considerable interest regardless of whether they are linked to an article or unrelated to the topic of a given issue.
Other promotional opportunities for advertisers are participation in scientific conferences and workshops sponsored or organised by OTR and sponsorship, which helps mark your presence in a non-conventional way, giving your products particular publicity.
Please take some time to review more OTR facts and figures.

Feel free to contact me with any queries that you may have.

PUBLISHING POLICY
"Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja" the first and only Polish scientific periodical bringing together the topics and scopes of the three medical specialities named in its title. Orthopaedics and rehabilitation medicine are two separate branches of medicine that are at the same time closely tied. And even though all those involved in this area of medical care realise that underlying these ties is a need for close collaboration in the treatment of most musculoskeletal conditions, current therapeutic guidelines often provide conflicting advice.
Our mission is to treat both specialities as equally important elements of a comprehensive treatment plan that complement one another in line with the guiding principles of modern therapy.
A high academic standard is guaranteed by our Advisory Board, which comprises the most prominent specialists in orthopaedics, traumatology, rehabilitation and physiotherapy, including, among others, the heads of all medical university and hospital departments of orthopaedics from all over Poland as well as the presidents of relevant scientific societies.

As the first journal in Poland, OTR has been authorised to use the Bone and Joint Decade logo, awarded by the World Health Organization.

The basic assumption of our editorial policy is that each issue is organised around a leading topic. Academically and practically oriented reviews of particular topics are presented in a comprehensive manner to account for the pathophysiology and pathogenesis of individual musculoskeletal conditions, the possibilities for conservative and surgical treatment and the role of rehabilitation as a significant and essential element of the treatment plan. Each discussion is necessarily supplemented by the presentation of diagnostic methods and tools as well as medications and medical equipment facilitating early and precise detection of particular conditions and effective treatment.

The authors of lead articles
published in OTR are the most eminent domestic and foreign specialists in orthopaedics, traumatology, rehabilitation, radiology, and other specialities relevant to the topic of a given issue.

On account of its importance and impact, "Ortopedia Traumatologia Rehabilitacja" is often the Scientific Media Sponsor of national events related to our specialities, including:
2007 - 2nd Central European Congress on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthrosis, Cracow 11-13 Oct 2007,
2006 - 5th (JUBILEE!) Interdisciplinary Scientific Congress on "Reconstructive Treatment and Rehabilitation in Musculoskeletal Oncology ", Warsaw, 8-9 Dec 2006,
